Mueang Phuket district is the capital district of Phuket province in Thailand. It covers a wide area, including Phuket Town, Cape Panwa, Ao Makham, Chalong, Rawai as well as Nai Harn, Kata, and Karon beaches.
Phuket Town is the main commercial and administrative center of the island, known for its historic Sino-Portuguese architecture and vibrant night markets. Chalong is home to a large expat community and many temples, including the famous Wat Chalong temple as well as Chalong Pier where many dive boats and speedboat tours leave from. Rawai has a mix of expat and tourist areas, and is home to a sea gypsy community, and it is also a good spot to start your island hopping trip. Nearby Nai Harn Beach is one of the most picturesque beaches on the island.
On the west coast, Karon and Kata are popular beach towns, known for their long stretches of white sandy beaches and clear waters. They are also popular with tourists for their nightlife and shopping options.
