<h4>About Kathu</h4>Kathu is the name of one of Phuket's three districts and encompasses a wide area in the center of the island that also contains Patong, Kalim, and Kamala beaches. The Kathu sub-district borders Phuket Town to the east and is just over the hill from Patong.The area is characterized by green hills and lake-filled valleys, although it has become increasingly urbanized as Phuket Town continues to expand.Despite the easy access to the wide range of amenities and services that Phuket Town and Patong have to offer including shopping malls, hospitals, and a wide range of restaurants, the area remains mostly green and peaceful away from the main roads.Kathu contains three of the island's golf courses; Loch Palm, Red Mountain, and Phuket Country Club.
